Missing in action.

Hello Everyone.
I really have been missing on here lately and I have a note.
I have been looking after a sick husband who has been ill in hospital again for the 2nd time in 2 weeks and some extra care needed when he was home. I worked out I am 3 weeks behind in everything !!. Only now are things back to normal and my loved one is feeling a lot better and free from the pain and medications he was haveing for that time.  Men are not good at being sick he was a full time job. After 54 years I think I new how to manage him. lol .
I was on track to finish a quilt for my grandson and it ended being a last minute finish for him to take to Melbourne to his unit to study at University there.

I was still doing the binding 2 nights before he left. Lucky he just lives around the corner from me.

It was the first time I used the quilting frame to quilt and I picked an easy quilt pattern to start with.
I did make a few mistakes being the first time but I did learn a lot. Overall I did enjoy the quilting with the Husqvarna Mega Quilter machine and will be practicing as much as I can.

I received this gift from a dear friend .I just love this journal..
 Love that little girl embroidery.

I am going to use this journal for anything quilting and knitting. Thank you Lynne. xx
Lynne also received a gift of this amazing embroidery which she showed us all at sewing class this week.

The embroidery stitches and beading are just perfect.  Faltless to my eyes. I would love to be able to embroider with such expertise.

Also at quilting this week Anne finished her quilt .Very pretty fabrics Anne chose.

It feels great getting back on here and haveing a look at what projects are happening.
I am packing for a trip with the caravan for some beach  fishing and swimming in the surf. ( I am not that game that I go in water over my head ) haha  but I love the surf and waves .It just feels so relaxing listening to the waves on the shore which we will hear every night while going  to sleep. My hubby has packed for me my 2 fishing rods and I hope to catch a big fish. "We will see" !!  Also packed is some hand sewing and knitting .
Stay happy and well.

Discipline

Hello Everybody,
I have been getting some order back in this house now Christmas is over  and the New Year is here.We still have school holidays and some babysitting  happening but have been getting my projects organised and will be starting back to my weekly quilting class tomorrow. I am happy as long as there is a new project on the horizon.
I am thinking I will start with a quilt for one of my grandaughters and because I like haveing a few projects going at once I am planning some Christmas embroideries for a wall hanging and a knitting project that I can pull some Alpaca wool from my stash and work on an 8ply cardigan.
My word for 2014, " Discipline" (to keep myself in check for what I want to accomplish)
I have some quilt blocks that the sewing ladies had started before Christmas and I am sure when I go tomorrow I will see the full quilts all finished.

Hubby and I have been figureing out the 2nd hand Inspira Quilting frame we bought and he has made some alterations to it and we had a practise with it on the weekend. What came with it was the Husqvarna Viking Quilter machine .In the package was some pantographs and laser and I have the basic set of  groovey boards to have a play with. DH stores it in our big double garage and winches it up next to our high ceiling and presses a button that lets it down onto its legs when I want to use it. He backs the car out as the other side of the garage our caravan is stored so all the room is taken up on the other side.

Up high out of the way.
Lowered down by pressing a button.

View to the bush from the garage while I will be quilting.

It has been very hot here and we have spent some days sailing on the Lake 3 mins from our place enjoying some cool breezes. A cool dip in the lake but not for very long as there is sharkes in  the lake that come in from the sea entrance.
We have been in heatwave conditions reaching well into the 40C's and Adelaide reaching 46.6C for two days.

Lake Macquarie. Australias largest coastal salt water lake  stretches 24km. 4 times bigger than Sydney Harbour.
Where it says Marks Point is near where I live.
Happy sewing ,embrace each day.

Welcomeing 2014

G'day friends and followers,
I would like to wish you all a HAPPY HEALTHY NEW YEAR 2014 and wishing you much pleasure with  setting about your sewing projects for 2014.
I seem to have a few projects lined up already. I am looking foreward to starting something new.
During the mad Christmas rush I have managed to do some small items.

A Pinnafore dress from www.makeitperfect.com.au pinny #1 for my 6year old granddaughter.

A fabric box for patterns etc. I actually made 2 different boxes ( Gudrun !!) and I forgot to take a photo of the other .The other box being smaller. They were fun and quick to make and seem quite useful.

Also some last minute cooking that I sent around to my Grandchildren around the corner from me to decorate. I think half were eaten while decorating.

Here is the 4 Grandchildren living around the corner from me.
I was Jacob's last year of school at Belmont Christian College. His formal night and of course they all had to run in for a photo. (Korbyn ,Jacob, Kristy and Caleb.)

Jacob ready for his Formal. University for him in the new year.

2 more of my Grandies. Kristy and her little sister Elsie.

Our lovely girl Shaylah  6 1/2 yrs.

I still have 2 more to share and will next time as having trouble bringing them on  here for some reason .

Through loving, listening and lightening up we can have a magnificent relationship with our grandchildren.

Have a wonderful New Year holiday.

Happy sewing.
