At Christmas all roads lead home.

Hello and Thank You, Blogging friends, who make and create such amazing things and make this a place where I find inspiration by putting your treasures and creations on display. It certainly is a place of interest on here.
 A new addition to my Christmas decorations are 2 fabric Christmas trees.

 

 Japanese folded fabric Christmas tree. Just Google those 5 words and a tutorial on the blog makedoandgem.blogspot.com will be there.

Christmas in Australia is not like anywhere else. Celebrated December 25th in mid summer when temperatures can be up to 35C or more.
Some Australians have Christmas dinner on a local beach or at home by the pool and playing cricket in the back yard enjoying outdoor activities.
I just love the build up to Christmas with homes decorated with Christmas lighting.These 2 houses are just a few streets away.

 

We took our grandson Korbyn to see the lights an he is in the right hand bottom corner.

Lit up like fairy land. In the first house I do not know how the people made it to the top of  those palm trees with the lights.They were so tall.
I have some lights inside my home and a few out the front of the house.

Unfortunately I am not a very good photographer and don't know how to set the camera for lighting shots but you may be able to get the idea a little.

Busy times at Christmas.

Hello, to all out there at this very busy time of year.
I am getting there slowly with all that happens around Christmas. I feel much happier that the Christmas presents are completed and wrapped. The house as had a clean and polish and the decorations are out. Just the Christmas lights to be put up and they are ready to go. Haveing those things finalised seemes to have stopped the panic I was feeling. Hope all your preparations are comeing along nicely.
We have attended a few parties and had one here for our sewing group. Secret Santa came with lots of lovely surprises.

I  have sent my quilties away to  the Quiltie Trade . Snowmen being the theme for this month.

How cute are these owls, I just love them. Sharon has completed the top for her quilt last week . I can bet that this week it will be batted and quilted and the binding finished  by now.

Our sewing group Christmas party day was such fun and a very enjoyable day at my home.

These ladies make the most amazing quilts and are so talented.

Our Christmas in Australia coincides with the Summer holidays. We have lots of events for the Christmas Season. Most are outdoor concerts. Carols by Candlelight is my favourite outdoor concert held in the warm summer evenings.

Time ,Where does it go?

Life is full of surprises for us lately, so much happening and the time flies by.
Being retired for 21 yrs and all of a sudden we are back at school, tied down to school hours and early morning rises again. Our 14yr old Grandaughter Kristy is liveing with us now so we are full on at the moment. Teenage attitudes, music,makeup, hair, clothing and schoolwork is keeping us busy. haha  And a  few challenges to cope with. . We are slowly makeing progress and have great hopes for the future for her.
I can't believe this is just the second post this November. I have been following up on everyone and enjoying what inspiring craft is happening out there.
We have just come back from a camping trip of 2 weeks. We really needed the break and our daughter who just lives around the corner took our grandaughter to school the same school as her 3 boys while we were away.

Camping under the trees at Sawtell Beach.  Took my fishing rod to do some beach fishing and I threw out over the waves a few times and never even got a bite. Oh well!! I did enjoy just watching the waves roll in around me. Very relaxing.

I just love this Half moon Hexi quilt and plan on makeing it one day.

 I am still fond of my very first quilt I made. It travels with us around Australia in the caravan.

 On my placement wall is the Eifel Tower quilt top for my sewing room wall. Hope to finish it soon.

 

Look at these happy people they are some of my dear sewing friends. We have been meeting weekly for 10 yrs now.

Our Creations on Display.

Hello friends,
 Even though I have nothing to display, I am still keeping my projects moveing and with some near finishes not far away .
At sewing this week my dear skilled and talented friends had some finishes.

Kay completed her fantastic quilt for her Grandson. He will be thrilled as he is madly into bikes. It is a real boys quilt. Great fabric for a boy.

 

 Val finished her lovely quilt with 3 layers of fabric colours .My photo doesn't show all the colours in the stripes, I tried with a close up but  not successful to see them.   A lot of cutting in this quilt for the layers. I am not sure if there is a special name for the technique used.

This is Lynne's lovely colourful I Spy quilt . Any child would love and  cherish this quilt.

And here is my dear friend Lynne Celebrating her Birthday with a Patchwork iced Birthday Cake.

Another dear friend has finished a unusual design for a knee quilt for her Brother to cheer him up as he is not well at the moment. Very Balinese looking. .Love the circles how they evolve and the gold thread in the quilting. I don't think it shows here but looks very effective.

 

        Next to show is Glenda's Pirate boat on the Pirate Quilt she has made for her Grandson. It is amazing all the applique on this quilt.  What a talented friend she is

 

 

The treasure Chest is all a glitter with gold. It looks fantastic.

And here is my dear Grandaughter(5 yrs) doing her sewing . What a great sewing companion I have . It helps if you concentrate and hold your mouth right. How cute is the little darling.

This is one of  my other Grandaughters .Kristy Lee who is the eldest and is now living with us and we have started her in the private school at Belmont Christian College just 5 minutes from us. This is her first day . We have high hopes for Kristy to be able to settle into school on a new journey in life. Our Kristy (13yrs) is a quilter and her second quilt is haveing the binding sewn at the moment.

Milo loves getting his head scratched, He is saying lots of words now. He is so funny at times . Also can be a very naughty boy. I might have to send him to school with Kristy!!

Back into routine.

Hello everyone,
Finished with the travelling for 2 more weeks ,then off again camping for some beach fishing.
 Have to get the rods out and make sure all the ' bits ' are there.
. Our country side is truly amazing. It is so quiet and relaxing to us enjoying the clean country air and lovely Spring days. Sometimes you just have to escape from the noise and daily routines. I have a name on our caravan which says it all, "Runaways".
In the mail when I collected it there was a parcel from Sandra Kaye of the Quiltie Trade .These are the lovely traded quilts I received.

They are lovely .Thank you ladies.

Also last week at sewing class there was a couple of finishes I would like to show. I really love the baby cot quilt by Lee.  I wouldn't think to choose those colours but it looks excellent.

Lee also finished a beautiful quilt. The fabric is gorgeous.

The prettiest butterfly fabric I have seen .

Barbara has been busy and has finished the top of her quilt made from a jelly roll. Barbara has been very productive with her quilting this year and I am sure I have some more of hers I can show later.

Jelly rolls are fun to use and always they are lovely colours .
I have one waiting on my cutting table.

My projects are slowly comeing along and I have a top finished ,I followed the tutorial a few weeks ago ( probable 6 weeks ago now) from Connie at Free Motion by the River  and hope to get it together by next week.
