Making Plans.

Hello everybody,
Making plans don't always go exactly how you want sometimes. Setting the goal is easy, keeping and achieving them take some time and motivation.
In my plans I had some projects ready to finish by a certain time and a planned  trip away was included . I could see myself achieving these goals before we left on our trip.
 Then along the way I was thrown some hiccups which stopped my projects moving.
The first set back.
 Newcastle ,Lake Macquarie area was hit with the worst devastation of storms to come to the  area where I live . The region was battered with cyclonic winds, torrential rain, massive seas and waves, flood waters and tragically the wild weather claimed the life of 4 people.
The damage bill of the storm will cost hundreds of  millions of dollars. People have had no electricity for days .Some residences cut off by flood had food and drinking water running low. Fences and trees blown down causing a lot of damage.

Fortunately we didn't incur any damage only lived with no power for 5 days and no internet. Which we are thankful for compared to some others. Out came the candles and torches .I didn't realise how much we took electricity for granted!!
My sewing machine sat for 2 weeks unable to use . I packed my projects to take away and my machine looking forward  heading to outback country away from our east coast and wild weather.

Moved further inland and camped by the river in lovely sunshine. Still no projects started!!!

On the way we stayed in Tamworth to visit our grandchildren as they love when we come to see them. It was Brady's birthday he turned 7 yrs.

I have some photos of some quilts in progress to show from my dear friends the sewing ladies .
These faries are so lovely and delicate.

 Beautiful embroideries and applique for this pretty quilt.

When I go to sewing group I will showcase these 2 quilts .
I have not been to class for 3 weeks and I am sure these quilts will be finished for some lovely photos .I am looking forward to seeing them next Tuesday.
Our holiday of 3 weeks was cut short as I caught the flu and had to come home only after a week before we travelled too far inland away from home. New South Wales the state I live could fit the UK into it 3 and1/4 times. It is a nice relaxed pace of life in the country with lots of little towns and villages. I love to travel out west to the far horizons. We will just pack the caravan again soon and head away again .
After being in bed for 4 days I guess my projects will all come together soon with great satisfaction as I am up and into it.

Our Cute Furry Creature.

Hello everyone,
I hope above  Australia that everyone is enjoying beautiful Spring weather like down under we are enjoying a lovely Autumn coolness.
Australia has just sent 4 of the Koala  " bear " to Singapore Zoo as a gift to mark Singapore's 50th Anniversary this year of Australia and Singapore Diplomatic Relations. Our Koalas are a national icon in terms of Flora and Fauna and have left for Singapore travelling on Australian carrier Qantas Airlines.
Koala joeys are actually a marsupial as the mothers carry the babies in a pouch on her belly.
Australia has listed them as a threatened species affected by climate change.

 You can tell I love the cuddly Koalas as I always have one on my blog  header.

We are having school holidays and 2 weeks  holiday from my sewing class group and I have been doing some grandchild minding .
Although I have managed some sewing in between.
Another machine cover finished well overdue for my Janome Memory Craft Quilters Companion.

I have some baby blankets nearly finished for the Blankets of Love and hope to send them to Cheryll at Gone Stitchin  who passes them on to the Hospitals.

My grandsons love Patties and in the holidays cooked for them some Sweet Corn (creamed) Patties.

The recipe if anyone would like.

Sweet Corn Patties.

1 Cup of Self Raising Flour
2 Tablespoons of Cornflour
2 Eggs separated
1/4 Cup Milk
250grms of  Sweet Corn  ( I added a little more )
2 Spring Onions finely chopped
Sour Cream to serve.
Method.
Sift the SR Flour and Cornflour into a bowl add Egg yolks and Milk mixing well.
Whip the Egg whites until stiff. Gently fold into the Flour mixture.
Stir in the Corn, Onion and Salt and Pepper.
Heat Oil in the Fry Pan.  Drop heaped Tablespoons of mix into pan and spread a little.
Cook until golden brown and turn and cook the other side.
Serve.

 I have some knitting on the needles and I am going to enjoy the rhythm of knitting during the weekend.
I read  this and I love it!!  " My House is a glorious tribute to things more important than housework. ".
Hmmm could be my house this weekend.

Lovely Autumn is here.

Hello Everyone,
 Wishing you all a Happy Easter .

Autumn is a time to enjoy the countryside. The trees are  changing to many colours to rusty ,amber and gold.  Falling leaves, feeling cool and brisk. A lovely time here in Australia after our extreme heat of Summer. I really enjoy the relief it gives.

 The wildflowers pop up . This is one of many the Sturt's Desert pea and occurs in the arid regions .A well known Australian native in the central western  areas.

I have to share my friends quilts from weekly class group as they are having some finishes and there is a lot of near finished also.

Val has finisher her quilt and what I like about it is the fabric . I was rather taken with the rich colours ,it is so beautiful. Val is very talented  with her fabric choices as she  is so imaginative.
It seems to take me ages with choosing my fabrics

Glenda is already getting her Christmas gifts organised and this Christmas runner display will brighten the room . Lucky person who receives  this.

 I have found a pattern for a Christmas runner  that I would like to make  this year and only have to choose my fabrics .Glenda is motivating me to make a start with it. I am sure it is ok to have a few projects happening at once!!!

I am waiting for my visitors for the Easter break . My family and  6 of my grandchildren will be arriving . I have put some Easter decorations for the Grandchildren coming. The 3 little ones get excited with the Easter Bunny coming. The big ones( teenagers) just love eating what I bake .
